Faye's work

Diagetic sound is any sound presented as originated from source within the films world. Diagetic sound can either be on screen or off screen depending on whatever it's source is within the frame or outside the frame.

Non- diagetic is represented as coming from the source outside story space. A play with diagetic and non- diagetic conventions can be used to create horror or comedy to surprise the audience.

Photography evaluation

My assignment was to create a freak or unique montage. We was asked to bring in some objects for our freak or Unique photography assignment I brought in a watch, we then set up some equipment such as red heads, white paper, light stand, blue board, tripod, a table and a camera to take our pictures I used white balance to make the quality better. After that we took all the pictures while taking the pictures we had to use different lighting and add different adjustments. We then uploaded it on to our computers and started our project on Photoshop. The images that inspired me was a hand with a clock on it, this inspired me because I thought it was different. Firstly I opened a new page 'File' then new adjusted its page to international layout then I proceeded to edit my Freak or Unique image. Step one I uploaded my images of the watch and hand that I had took I then saved as them on to the computer.  I opened 'new layer' this is so I could edit certain features at one time with its original background; I then placed the hand and put the watch over it and dragged the so it merges with the two images, I then re-sized it to its right capacity by pressing down shift key plus the arrow at the same time by dragging one of its corners. I then selected the 'lasso tool' and roughly drew around the watch of the this selects around the object and erases anything around it, to successfully achieve this you will have to inverse the image by pressing down the 'command key (Ctrl) and Shift' then Backspace'. To blend in the image to erase all the rough edges select the 'Erase Tool' and carefully go around the watch and the hand.  After I finished editing my freak or unique image. I went on to google and look for images to do with my advert. I then saved the image I found and opened a new layer and placed my image overlaying all the layers, I then used the 'Erase Tool' and right clicked on the mouse to equip the 'magic tool' this erases anything I select faster and better than using the erase tool manually, step 2 I used the 'Brush tool' to erase all the texture within the label and After I finished editing I saved my file as a 'JPEG' so it saves it as an image.
Panasonic Lumix Fz38 Review

  • P: Program mode has the camera calculate both shutter speed and aperture (given a manually or automatically selected ISO). Higher-end cameras offer partial manual control to shift away from the automatically calculated values (increasing aperture and decreasing shutter time or conversely). The difference between Program mode and Full Auto mode is that in program mode, only the exposure is automatic, while other camera settings (e.g. shooting mode, exposure compensation, flash) can be set manually; in Full Auto mode everything is automatic.
  • A or Av:Aperture Priority or 'Aperture value' enables manual control of the aperture, and shutter speed is calculated by the camera for proper exposure (given an ISO sensitivity).
  • S or TV: Shutter priority or 'Time value' enables manual control of the shutter speed, and aperture is calculated by the camera for proper exposure (given an ISO sensitivity).
  • M: Manual mode both shutter speed and aperture and independently set manually (with ISO sensitivity also set manually), where proper image exposure requires accurate manual adjustment.
Q1. What is ISO and what does it effect? It controls the detail in our photographs. We would use a higher ISO when there is not much light.

Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control setting on the camera mode dial. To control the shutter speed and the aperture.

Q3. Name two important consideration when attaching the tripod baseplate to the bottom of camera? tripod- start with the fatter legs before bringing the smaller legs down.

Q4. Name three important considerations when using a red-head lighting kit. Don't touch the glass doors and the bulb. Wait half an hour for it to cool down when finished using it.

Q5. When focusing the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of focus? A little green rectangle. To focus, press the button gently.

Q6. Name two techniques we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph? Let light in by opening and closing the aperture. Control the shutter speed to go faster or slower. Use ISO.

Photoshop

Today we had the chance to use Photo Shop this is one out of the 3 Edits we created.

1) Find a image online right click on the picture and click on copy, once on Photo Shop you paste your imagine on the page.

2) To change the size of the image first you click on EDIT then scroll down until you see Free Transform click on Free Transform then it will allow you to re-size your image.

3) To make your imagine more creative for example the eye in the middle of the tigers face you click on Clone Stamp Tool which is on the left hand side of your screen, after you clicked on Clone Stamp Tool you hold down Windows & Alt together then click the left button on your mouse then let go of Windows & Alt once clicked make sure to scan the area you wish to clone. after that's complete you open up a new layer which is on the right hand side of your screen on the bottom corner, it is best to open a new layer each time you want to add effects to your image to prevent any errors and mistakes after you opened up a new layer you can paint the area you wish to place your clone.

4) We used Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) select area then click on backspace to erase all the outer area that's not been selected for more options on this tool hold down the left button on your mouse until more options appear on your screen, select then inverse to erase everything around your selected area. to choose a background color click on the paint tool which is seen on the left hand side of your screen, Lasso Tool gives you the great cut if you want to cut everything around your image first you draw around the image then you click on Select then Inverse

Finished photography photos

Photography memory check

We would use a large apature to achieve a shallow depth of field.
We would use the 's' control when we control the shutter going down.
To make the camera achieve focus we use gental pressure on the button then let go to create the photo.
Three items when producing a seamless background lighting set up are red lights, white sheets and a light stand.
When focusing the camera we place the little green rectangle to show that the image is focused.
We must turn the light off and let it cool down before putting it straight away.
